172 days ago I made a brash decision to shut down CollectionofAwesome.com and delete all it’s content. I chose to do this because I was struggling in various facets of my life. I looked at everything that was happening at the time and running a blog did not seem like the most effective use of my limited time.
Why have you resumed it?
I had a chat with a good friend over a beer the other night and over the course of the discussion it became apparent that if the blog itself had over 2 million views, and roughly 1,300 people coming to read it each day, that I really should put the effort in to doing it. I haven’t exactly solved the underlying concerns of personal organisation or time management, but I have realised that I’d lost some important side-products of blogging – mostly having a public place to share things that I know people would appreciate.
Collection of Awesome 2.0
What’s next? Essentially the blog will resume with the same style and content as you have come to expect from before (at least one post per day) but I’ll be tweaking things slightly. I’ll try to explain things in the About / FAQ page as best as possible.
Will you be restoring any of the old content?
Unfortunately I did a fantastic job of obliterating the old content back when I thought I was shutting this down for good. I do however have some leads on old content and will be posting it under the tag of ‘classic COA’. I don’t want to rely too heavily on doing this tough – I don’t want people having to relive a lot of old content.
I’ve always wanted to give the blog it’s own logo, and after a bit of playing I’ve come up with this:
I wanted it to be unique, something that tries to capture “awesome”, and bold. I would love to hear your feedback on it.
Feedback / Comments.
I have taken the time to re-enable & restore all the affiliated social media sites:
One thing I’d really like is for you to send some feedback, write comments, ask questions, provide suggestions etc… I will do my best to respond to everyone that makes the effort to do so. Even a quick twitter message
Anyway, it’s good to be back.
